The Beitel Hockey U11 Summer League is a fun, fast-paced Friday night hockey league designed to give young players the opportunity to enjoy the game, improve their skills, and build confidence throughout the summer.
The main focus of the U11 division is development, creativity, teamwork, and having fun in a positive competitive environment. We want this league to become something players genuinely look forward to every Friday while also helping them improve their hockey skills over the offseason.
The league is designed to help players:
Build confidence with the puck
Improve hockey IQ and decision making
Develop creativity in open ice
Get more puck touches and offensive opportunities
Learn how to compete in fair and challenging situations
Improve skating, passing, and awareness through fast-paced 4v4 hockey
We are working hard to keep the overall skill level throughout the league as balanced as possible so all players can receive meaningful ice time, proper competition, and opportunities to improve.
The league will consist of two teams with rosters made up of 10 skaters and 1 goalie per team. We believe this roster size creates the best environment for player development by balancing ice time, rest time, and opportunities with the puck while still allowing teams to continue playing effectively if players miss games during summer holidays.
The season includes organized weekly Friday games throughout the summer with referees, scorekeepers, standings, jerseys, and a unique playoff format that keeps every game important and exciting.
Registration costs:
$375 per player
$300 per goalie
Included with registration:
Team jersey and socks
Fully organized and reffed games
Online standings and scores
Scorekeepers for every game
End-of-season awards
A fun and competitive summer hockey experience
At the end of the season, teams will compete for the Candy Cup Championship. Throughout the summer, every game matters because regular season wins help determine the starting score for the championship game.
Along with competing for the Candy Cup, the league will also hand out individual awards at the end of the season:
Hardest Worker
Most Improved
Best Playmaker
These awards are designed to recognize players who show effort, improvement, teamwork, and positivity throughout the summer while also giving players something exciting to work toward every week.
The league will also be selling Beitel Hockey merchandise throughout the summer, and registered players will receive discounted pricing on all league merchandise.

The goal of the Beitel Hockey U11 Summer League is to create a fun, competitive, and positive environment where young players can develop their skills while building confidence and enjoying the game with their friends.
While competition is part of the league, the main priority is making sure every player is challenged appropriately, receives fair opportunities, and enjoys coming to the rink every week.
We strongly believe young players improve the most when they:
Touch the puck often
Play in competitive but fair situations
Feel confident trying creative plays
Receive consistent ice time
Compete against players at similar skill levels
Our goal is to create an environment where players can improve their game over the summer while still having fun and building a love for hockey.
We also want feedback from players and parents throughout the season. If there are concerns, ideas, or suggestions to improve the league experience, we strongly encourage families to contact league staff. We want to continue improving this league all the time and make it the best possible experience for everyone involved.
The league will primarily consist of players born in 2015 and 2016.
Players born in 2014 or 2017 are welcome to register but must receive special approval from league staff before being accepted into the league. This is done to help maintain a fair, safe, and balanced level of competition for all players.
Teams will be created by the league in an effort to balance overall skill levels and create competitive games throughout the summer.
Players and families are encouraged to provide teammate requests during registration. While requests cannot be guaranteed, the league will do its best to place friends together whenever possible so players can enjoy the summer experience with their buddies.
If a goalie cannot attend a game, the league will do its best to find a replacement goalie whenever possible.
The league strongly requests open communication from players and parents regarding absences so adjustments can be made ahead of time to help maintain fair and competitive games.
Weekly Friday games throughout the summer
Fully reffed games
Scorekeeper present for every game
Online standings and scores updated throughout the season
Team jerseys and socks included
Fast-paced 4v4 hockey format
Each game includes:
5-minute warmup
Two 26-minute runtime periods
2-minute intermission
If a game is tied at the end of regulation, the game will end in a tie.
Offsides will result in a change of possession instead of a faceoff in order to keep the game moving and maximize puck touches and ice time for players.
Icings are allowed.
Penalties will follow standard Hockey Canada rules
Body checking is not permitted, but body contact is allowed similar to most U11 winter leagues
Full hockey equipment is required at all times, including a neck guard.
In order to help games run smoothly, the league hopes to have one parent volunteer on each bench every game whenever possible.
Parent volunteers will help with:
Managing fair shift lengths
Opening bench doors
Helping maintain balanced and competitive matchups
Supporting a positive environment on the bench
Parent volunteers are encouraged to help keep stronger players matched against stronger players whenever necessary in order to maintain fair and competitive gameplay for all players.
The league wants all players to receive fair opportunities, meaningful ice time, and enjoyable matchups throughout the summer.
If a player is consistently taking excessive ice time, the referee and parent volunteer reserve the right to shorten that player’s shifts or temporarily sit the player for a short period of time in order to help maintain fairness, competition, and enjoyment for everyone involved.
The goal is not to punish players, but rather to ensure every child receives opportunities to play, develop confidence, and improve their game throughout the summer.
The U11 league will feature a unique playoff system
Each regular season game will count toward the final championship game:
Every game win earns that team 1 goal toward the final game scoreboard
If a game ends in a tie, no goal is awarded
After all regular season games are completed, the earned goals will be added onto the scoreboard before the final championship game begins
Example:
If Team Red wins 5 regular season games and Team Black wins 3, the championship game would begin with Team Red leading 5-3.
The winner of the final championship game will win the Candy Cup.
If an official believes an incident may deserve supplemental discipline, it will be reported to league management for review. Suspensions will then be determined by the league.
The league reserves the right to suspend any player for any reasonable length of time without refund for missed games.
While suspensions are expected to be rare, this policy is in place to prevent dangerous or inappropriate behaviour that could negatively affect the fun and positive atmosphere of the league.
Once a player has registered and paid for the league, no refunds will be provided if the player decides to quit or is unable to continue participating for any reason.
League fees are used to secure ice times, jerseys, referees, league operations, and other expenses prior to the start of the season and during the season.
In the event of rink issues, severe weather, emergencies, or circumstances outside of the league’s control, games may be postponed or cancelled.
If a cancellation occurs, league staff will communicate updates to players and parents as soon as possible through league communication channels.
The league will do its best to reschedule cancelled games whenever possible; however, rescheduled ice times may occasionally need to take place on days other than Fridays depending on rink availability. The league will still make every reasonable effort to keep games on their originally scheduled day whenever possible.
If an ice time is unable to be rescheduled each player will be refunded $30 for the ice time
