The Beitel Hockey U11/U13 Summer Development Program is designed for players who participated at the U11 or U13 level during the previous season and are committed to improving their game. This program focuses on building strong skills through repetition, proper technique, and a positive learning environment that encourages players to challenge themselves and develop confidence in their abilities.
Our philosophy is simple: players improve the most when they receive quality instruction and a high volume of meaningful repetitions. Rather than spending large portions of practice standing in lines or playing full-ice games, players will spend the majority of each session actively working on skills, receiving immediate feedback from coaches, and learning how to apply those skills in game situations.
Every session will follow a structured format designed to maximize development while keeping players engaged and moving.
Each session begins with a warmup and skill introduction. Coaches will teach and demonstrate the focus skill or skills of the day, breaking down proper technique and key teaching points. Players will then work through drills that reinforce the fundamentals while preparing them to perform at a high intensity throughout the session.
The majority of each ice session is spent in small-group stations. This format allows players to maximize repetitions, puck touches, and individual attention from coaches while staying active and engaged throughout the session.
Stations will be used to work on a variety of skills and will often include multiple drills that focus on the same skill in different ways. This helps players better understand the skill, build confidence, and improve their ability to execute it consistently. Along with major skill areas such as skating, shooting, passing, and puck control, stations will also focus on smaller details that are just as important to becoming a complete player. These may include puck retrievals, picking up rims, wall play, deflections, puck protection, and other game situations that players encounter regularly. While these skills may not require an entire practice or large-scale drill dedicated to them, they are critical parts of the game that still need to be taught and practiced. The station format allows us to naturally incorporate these smaller skills into sessions, giving players valuable repetitions and instruction without taking away from the development of core skills.
By working in small groups and rotating through stations, players will receive more repetitions, more coaching feedback, and more opportunities to develop skills that directly translate to game situations.
The final portion of each session allows players to apply the skills they have worked on in more challenging and game-like situations. These drills encourage creativity, confidence, decision-making, and execution at game speed while giving players the opportunity to practice and apply new skills in a realistic environment. This helps players better understand how skills transfer directly into competition and builds confidence in using them during games.

At Beitel Hockey, we believe player development comes from consistent effort, proper coaching, and quality repetitions. Players are challenged to push beyond their comfort zone while maintaining strong fundamentals, attention to detail, and good habits.
Our goal is not to run endless conditioning drills or simply keep players busy. Every drill has a purpose, every repetition matters, and every session is carefully designed to create meaningful improvement. We focus on teaching skills the right way, providing immediate feedback, and creating an environment where players can learn, make mistakes, and continue to grow.
By the end of the summer, our goal is for players to be faster, more confident with the puck, more technically sound in their skating, passing, and shooting, and better prepared to succeed at the next level of hockey.
